Graduation Requirements

Distinguished Diploma-29 credits

29 Credits-Exceeds NM State and SWUC Requirements.

The offering of this diploma is solely intended to encourage students in selecting courses that will aid them in preparing for college at an advanced level. Each student is advised to make sure that he/she completes the proper courses for entrance to the particular college or university of choice.  To receive the distinguished diploma, a student must complete the following:

 

  • Religion – 4 credits (One year of religion for each year spent in an Adventist academy.)
  • English – 4 credits
  • Social Studies – 4 credits (Including US History – 1 and US Government – ½)
  • Computer Science – 1 credit
  • Physical Education – 2 credits
  • Fine Arts – 1.5 credit
  • Life Skills – ½ credit
  • Health –½ credit
  • Communication/Business Skills – 1 credit

Two of the following three with the third meeting the advanced diploma requirement:

  • Mathematics – 4 credits (Excludes General Math and Pre-Algebra)
  • Foreign Language – 3 credits all of the same language
  • Sciences – 4 credits (Excludes General and Earth Science)

 

The student must also have at least a 3.0 grade point average and satisfactory deportment.  No more than two and one half  credits of fine arts and two credits of P.E. may apply towards the 29 credits required for graduation.

Academic Diploma-27 Credits

27 Credits-Exceeds NM state and SWUC Requirements.

The offering of this diploma is solely intended to encourage students in selecting courses that will aid them in preparing for college.   • Mathematics – 3 credits (Excludes General Math and Pre-Algebra)
  • Sciences – 3 credits (Excludes General and Earth Science
  • Computer Science – 1 credit
  • Physical Education – 2 credits
  • Fine Arts – 1 credit
  • Life Skills – ½ credit
  • Health –½ credit
  • Communication/Business Skills – 1 credit
  • Foreign Language – 2 credits

 

The student must also have at least a 2.0 grade point average and satisfactory deportment.  No more than two credits of fine arts and two credits of P.E. may apply towards the 27 credits required for graduation.

General Diploma-25 credits

25 Credits-Meets NM state Requirements and SWUC Requirements

Note: Students may be conditionally accepted into college with a general diploma. However, in most cases they will be required to take remedial college courses prior to taking a regular college load.

To receive a general diploma, a student must complete the following:

  • Religion – 4 credits (One year of religion for each year spent in an Adventist academy.)
  • English – 4 credits
  • Social Studies – 3 credits (Including US History – 1 and US Government – ½)
  • Mathematics – 3 credits (General Math does not count toward graduation)
  • Science – 3 credits
  • Computer Science – 1 credit
  • Life Skills – ½ credit
  • Physical Education – 2 credits
  • Fine Arts – ½ credit
  • Health – ½ credit
  • Communication/Business Skills – 1 credit

 

The student must also have at least a 1.0 grade point average and satisfactory deportment. No more than two credits of fine arts and two credits of P.E. may apply towards the 25 credits required for graduation.

 

Modified Programs

Does not meet NM State nor SWUC Requirements

1)  Attendance Diploma – Successfully attended classes for a general diploma without obtaining passing grades.

2)  Modified Program Diploma – Successfully attended classes for a general diploma with at least two core areas of the curriculum containing modified program classes.
